Hot'n'Healthy: Toys help kids stay active
Savannah Now Featuring Wingflyer

I have received many questions from parents concerned about their children’s health. We are all aware of the social and psychological stresses of overweight children. Most kids love to watch television and play on the computer and they may not be interested in exercise. But there are many toys to promote healthy activity that your kids will enjoy with you or their friends. With Christmas coming, it may be wise to limit the tech toys. My son, Logan Kofod, and his friend, Shaqari Fairley, will show you some fun toys that will get your kids outside for plenty of exercise.

The Wing Flyer is relatively new. It looks like a scooter but combines the ride of a bike with the motion of a stair-stepper. Helmets are recommended. You push off with one foot while you immediately begin alternating weight distribution between both feet. The Wing Flyer is pedal-powered so the continuous pedaling will give your child an aerobic and weight bearing workout.

The exciting new line of WingFlyers at one of the largest boat shows in the world made a huge impact on revolutionizing travel by land and sea for recreational enthusiasts and adventurers. All models of WingFlyers flew off the shelves as people from all over the world stood in line to experience a ride like no other. Sales exceeded expectations and people were enjoying the thrill of riding each unique WingFlyer model. One of their favorite features of the WingFlyer was the portability and versatility it provides to those on vacation, getaways, and basic transportation from their vessel to their land destinations.

Many boat owners tested the WingFlyer’s portability by riding it to their boats, then folding them and taking them onboard their vessels in a matter of seconds. “This awesome product should allow me to store it in my craft, since it takes so little space, and then ride it out,” stated one yacht owner. “It will prove to be useful on my ventures to the Bahamas where some locales are too far to walk, but not really car-friendly, and for travelling between the shops and stores.” Another seafarer added, “Not only will this provide a good way to go from my boat to my destination on land, but I’ll get a killer workout as well. I can’t wait to try it on some of the public trails and paths on the islands with my family... what a great concept!” And one new proud owner implied that she was clear on how she will use it immediately, “I love taking a walk up and down the coastline at sunrise before heading out to sea... now I can use my brand new WingFlyer instead and feel the morning breeze on my face before I go on my next adventure out yonder!”

The 52nd Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show was held in what is considered the "Yachting Capital of the World." Arguably the largest boat show in America and one of the biggest in the world, there were over 100,000 attendees and 1,800 boats worth in excess of $3 billion, which included exotic vehicles and extraordinary super yachts. In the 3 million sq ft plus area, visitors perused and interacted with exhibits set up by yacht builders, designers, supercars, and brokerage yachts.

The wheels (usually two or three of them) are always turning for inventors hoping to come up with the next big trend in kids' action vehicles. Here are some recent innovations that bring creative twists to old staples like unicycles, skateboards and scooters.

Step it up

WingFlyer Z150: Self-propelled, chain-driven stepper-style scooter.

Fast, fun, happiness-inducing all-body fitness. There's no learning curve — the neighborhood kids and I instantly fell in love with this stand-up stepper machine on wheels. It provides a good workout, blasting your legs, upper body and core as you rock it back and forth for leverage. With an adjustable-height handlebar, rear disc brake, pneumatic tires and rider capacity of 220 pounds, the WingFlyer safely accommodates all sizes and ages. It's a good transportation vehicle for kids, and it folds up for easy transport.

Wingflyer at Interbike - Las Vegas 2011

2011 WingFlyer in Las Vegas

Amidst the bright lights and spectacular strips in Las Vegas, Nevada, a new player emerged and lit up the Interbike Expo in this year’s highly anticipated show. WingFlyer burst onto the scene with its revolutionary new product that combines the ride of a bike and the motion of a stair-stepper. It can be used for fitness and cross training, during rehab from sports injuries, transportation, fun with friends, or as an activity the whole family can enjoy, and much more! The WingFlyer is also portable, versatile, and affordable for most everyone!

As one of the largest cycling shows in the world, Interbike 2011 experienced great success and excitement at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. The attendance exceeded 23,000, including over 11,000 domestic and international buyers. The WingFlyer line of products received its share of accolades about its build quality, innovation, and as a leading alternative to existing bikes and scooters. It was considered in a class of its own, and has started to pioneer a brand new fitness category.

Catalfumo Does It Again at the 2011 Interbike Expo

Doing things the right way, building from the ground up, and going big or going home has been the successful formula for Dan Catalfumo for over 35 years. Having been named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young and one of the leading real estate developers in Florida, Dan plays an active and hands on roll in the operations of all his companies. His latest endeavor is the WingFlyer, an innovative new product that may revolutionize the industry.

The WingFlyer is a pedal-powered product line that rides like a bike and emulates the motion of a stair-stepper. The patented drive system and air-filled rubber wheels provide a smooth ride and hours of exercise and fun for everyone. Dan only has the grandest of plans for the WingFlyer. He states, “I want WingFlyer to someday have the same brand recognition as Coke, McDonalds and Nike. This is a ground breaking new product and everyone should have one. We have total commitment to the success of WingFlyer and this show in Vegas was a great start.”

2011 Interbike Expo WingFlyer Booth Babes

Among the outstanding sales staff for WingFlyer at this year’s Interbike Expo, the models hired as booth babes helped jazz up the WingFlyer line of revolutionary new products. “We are the bait to get people in here and learn about the product,” said Sylvia Ramirez, a Las Vegas resident hired by WingFlyer. “We’re eye candy. They see us and it brings attention to the booth.”

The booth babes had to familiarize themselves with the products to present them to all the visitors, and even they were impressed by today’s leading alternative to bikes and scooters. This enthusiasm and newfound knowledge was instrumental in their attracting new clientele to the booth as well as informing them of all the great features and applications of the WingFlyer. One of the WingFlyer sales team members commented “Not only did they look great, they did an outstanding job of raising the excitement and interest level of the WingFlyer by informing everyone why they should have one.”

Extreme New Products at the 2011 Interbike Expo

At one of the biggest venues for innovations in cycling and related products, WingFlyer showcased the newest and most exciting member of the family, the WingFlyer Extreme. This robust new model is tailor made for any park and street rider who lives to shred and attempt the latest and greatest tricks and stunts, as well as those who have the need for speed to race up and down a track.

Riders at the show took on the Extreme and seemed to quickly master riding and controlling this revolutionary new product as if they had been riding it for months. “They looked very comfortable trying some rad tricks in a short amount of time,” stated one WingFlyer sales team member. “We had one rider doing 360 bar flips within several minutes and the crowd was going crazy!”

The WingFlyer Extreme adds to the existing Z100, Z150 and Z600 models that are geared for kids, adults, and fitness enthusiasts.

Family Focus Blog
A rave WingFlyer review from the Nashville-based Family Focus Blog was posted 8/15. The Flyer 50 blogger, Scarlet Paolicchi,  made remarks such as: “I love my WingFlyer!!  The WingFlyer looks like a scooter but has the ride of a bicycle and the motion of a stair stepper. The smooth pedal powered WingFlyer is really a great way to get in shape and have fun at the same time.  Because it is an all new feel, I felt a little like a kid learning to ride a bike when I first tried it and I have to say that was kind of fun.  We get so used to knowing what things will be like that something totally new like the WingFlyer makes you slow down and appreciate the fun of doing something new!”  The complete review can be read at: http://familyfocusblog.com/wingflyer-review-and-giveaway/  She has also shared her review through her Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/momswearyourteesblog and Twitter at:  http://twitter.com/#!/familyfocusblog.

Family Fitness Blog on About.com
Catherine Holecko, author of the blog, has a follow-up post on 8/12 detailing her daughter’s lost WingFlyer at a community pool party.  Not only did the story have a happy ending as the WingFlyer was found safe and sound, Catherine raves about the WingFlyer as a option for adults stating “actually, I hesitate to call it a toy, since it is safe for many adults to use and delivers a true, calorie-burning workout.”  Additionally, this review offers great insight on how consumers, kids and parents, are relating to and using the product. Catherine’s daughter looks forward to riding the WingFlyer to school in a few weeks and will be sure to lock it up properly. http://familyfitness.about.com/b/2011/08/12/new-review-wingflyer-z150.htm   The original WingFlyer review was posted on 8/5 and can be found at:  http://familyfitness.about.com/od/productsandequipment/gr/Wingflyer-Z150.htm
